Dear Parents,

Week 29! We’re finally in the new classroom in the new building with many thanks to Emma and Rick (Noah’s parents), Rinn (Katelynn’s mother), Liza (Izzy’s mother), Samantha (Alekha’s mother), Brian (August’s father), Jennifer (Oliver’s mother), and Giulia for helping me pack, unpack, and decorate the new classroom. I could not have done this without their help!

Big THANK YOU to everyone who came to the gala and/or supported auction this year. BFEF met their fundraising goal and we really are a unique school and can do what we do because of your support.

Report cards went home on Thursday. If you would like to meet, please let me know and we’ll find a time together.

We’ve got kind of a nutty week this week – settling in the new classroom, “new” routines, Pi Day, St. Patrick’s Day, Open House preparation, and an awards assembly on Friday, all this, with the excitement of spring break ahead.

I had forgotten to draw names for parent chaperones for our field trip to the farm. It will definitely be done this week! If you haven’t brought in your donation for the trip, please do so.

French:

We are working on the letter “K”. It is pronounced “Kah” and makes the same sound as in English. We will be seeing the following words:

  • Un kiwi - kiwi

  • Un koala - koala

  • Un kimono – kimono

  • Un képi – police hat

  • Un kangourou - kangaroo

  • Un kayak – kayak

  • Le karaté - karate

Sight words: So far, we have learned: C’est, je, suis, le, la, il, elle, ma, mon, comme, ici, vais, joue, pour, fais, un, une, dans, moi, toi, et and au.

Book: We continue to read stories about plants, seeds, and what plants need. We also start learning about farm animals in preparation for our field trip to the farm.

Math:

We continue to deepen our understanding of adding/subtracting, decomposing/composing, and adjectives.

Homework explanation:

  • Please read at least 20 minutes per day with your student.

Reminders:

  • Please make sure you sign your child’s behavior log every day.

  • Library is on Tuesday at 8:30. Please bring the book back in a gallon Ziploc bag.

  • Please sign and return the report card envelope.

  • Awards assembly on Friday

  • Spring Break is next week, March 21-25. There is a student free day the following Monday, March 28 and the Kinder team is in FLAG professional development on Tuesday - Mme Bollier will be our substitute. Friday, April 1 is the fieldtrip to the farm.
