Dear Parents,
Welcome to Week 32! I hope everyone enjoyed Open House and was able to come see all the learning your student has done. We’ll be learning more about farm animals this week and going more in depth with them.
The plants that we have sent home will need a bit more time to grow. If you keep watering it, the beans will grow fully – last year a student’s beans actually grew new beans! There are wild flowers in there that takes approximately 3 weeks to grow.
I will not be here on Wednesday and Thursday due to FLAG meetings (French on Wednesday, Kindergarten on Thursday). I will be here the rest of the month! Mme Bollier will be here both days.
Due to upper grade state testing, we will not be going to the library for the next two Tuesdays. If your student is finished with the book, they are more than welcome to bring back the book and I will return it for them. Otherwise, they are more than welcome to keep the book for a while longer.
French:
We are working on our last letter “Q”. It is pronounced “ku” with a very short “u” and it makes the same sound “k”. We will be seeing the following words:
Un cirque – circus
Un quartier – a neighborhood
Le casque – helmet
Le masque – mask
Les jonquilles – daffodils
Les coquillages – seashells
Les quilles – bowling pins
Sight words: So far, we have learned: C’est, je, suis, le, la, il, elle, ma, mon, comme, ici, vais, joue, pour, fais, un, une, dans, moi, toi, et and au. We will be adding “que” and “qui” this week.
Book: A variety of informational texts on farm animals. We’ll also be creating our own ebook on farm animals.
Math:
We continue to work with addition/subtraction, counting, 3D shapes, and categorizing
Science:
We’ll be talking about carnivores, omnivores, and herbivores and learning about the needs of farm animals.

We will not be going to the library this week.
