The Lab has three MakerBot Replicator 2s, photo from MakerBot.

The MakerBot is printing chainmail. It prints a layer together all at once. Initially, the print is stiff, but by bending it, over time it becomes flexible like chainmail.

Use MakerWare to set up your model for print, it will automatically export in a proprietary format that can't be edited later. You will always want a copy of the original STL or OBJ file.
