Download the "3inches by 3inches snowflake.svg" file at the bottom of the page.
The template
2.5" x 2.5"
has inches as the default unit
Click on the Polygon/Star Tool, draw a shape, and experiment with the corners, spoke ratio, roundedness, randomized and the reset brush. Have fun with it! You may need to turn off fill and turn on stroke to see what's happening to your shape. Go to Object > Fill and Stroke to do this.
Now that you have tried it out, create your first snowflake shape. Remember, go to Object > Fill and Stroke to turn off the fill and turn on the stroke to see what changes are happening to your shape.
Go to Object > Fill and Stroke to:
Turn on Fill. Click the icon that looks like a heart with a hole in it. This will create contrast between overlapping layers.
Turn on Stroke.
Set Stroke-style to 0.003 inches.
Add a circle around your snowflake. It should fill the 2.5" x 2.5" box, but it should not be any larger, or else the information won't be sent to the laser cutter. Move and resize your snowflake design to fit it into the 2.5" x 2.5" box.
Set the circle's stroke color to red.
Add a small circle, about 0.2", for the hanging hole.
Set the circle's stroke color to red.
*Cutting Notes: In RetinaEngrave, staff will have to change the color of the outer circle and the hanging hole circle to set the vector to cut at 20% Speed and 100% Power with at least 2 passes.
If you would like to lightly vector engrave the outline of the snowflake, try setting vector at 80% Speed and 40% Power.
