Today you will create a custom light switch wall plate using the laser cutter and Inkscape. You can check out this Google Image Search for a few ideas or inspirations.
The page area is 3.75" by 5.5", and the light switch cover should be at least 2.75" by 4.5".
The light switch and screw spacers are in the first layer, which is locked by default. You can choose to unlock this for advanced customization, but be aware that the plate may not fit right if you do.
Your work must stay within the 3.75" by 5.5" work area.
Square, Circle, Polygon/Star and Text Tool may be used here. For anything you want etched onto the plate, use a black fill.
The wall plate is a square, so by default it has 4 path nodes. You can add nodes, and curve or round the nodes to change the ultimate shape of the wall plate.
Save as SVG.
Pick out the color of your wall plate.
We'll collect your files and begin cutting.
