Web: Make a Website with Weebly
There are many services available for website creation.
Today we're using Weebly, a free drag-and-drop website creator with a WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) editor.
We will
Add a welcome message to the homepage
Take a look at the different header types for pages, and change the image to the homepage
Write a welcome message to your visitors
Add a Blog Page
Create one blog post
Add a Standard Page with a Contact form
Add a Standard Page with one of the following: Gallery, Image, or Text box
And then you'll tinker!
Check out the Let's Make Fun Stuff example.
Getting Started
Start by creating an account at Weebly.com.
Once you've created your account, use the menu to Add Site.
For What's the Focus of Your Site? select Site.
It will drop us into a theme automatically. We can change this later.
Let's Use a Subdomain of Weebly.com. Weebly will check if the subdomain already exists -- the more creative you get, the faster you'll get a name.
Note: There is a fee to register your own domain, or to connect a domain you might already own. Today, we will not be using either of these options.
Once you pick a name, you'll be dropped into the Weebly editor.
The Weebly editor has a few main menu options, but before we get started
There is no save button because it autosaves our changes
The Publish button is to make a new page live, or an edited page live
As we work today, your website won't be visible until you select Publish on each page you make.
