Shortly after my interest in Zoids was rekindled by my Zoids 2 Ultrasaurus, I began looking in Jerry Dreiss's "Zoids: The Coolest Toys Ever!" web page in the Trading Post section. One day in early 1998 I read that someone was selling a few OJR Deathsaurer zoids. At the time, Tomy had not re-released any Zoids and the only ones available were from private sellers. (One store in the San Francisco Bay Area had a OJR Deathsaurer, however they wanted $165 for it!) I contacted the seller and decided to get a 99% complete OJR Deathsaurer, which only needed repair to the belly guns on the battery case.
After a few emails we arrived at a very fair price. Payments and arrangements were made, and before too long my OJR Deathsaurer arrived at my doorstep.
The OJR deathsaurer has a fire engine red body with very dark brown armor. The NJR deathsaurer has a similar color scheme except the red is darker and more subdued. (I actually like the NJR color scheme slightly better, but that is water under the bridge.)
After repairing the belly guns with some sprue, I customized my Deathsaurer by added a Charged Particle Cannon (CPC) in the mouth, using some sprue and a Zoids rubber cap for the muzzle. My custom CPC also does a good job of hiding the wires that run from the motor to the lights in the head. Everything else is original.
