Tarantula Recon Mech

The Tarantula Recon Mech was designed for reconnaissance and stealth. The four legs give it speed and maneuverability, especially over rough terrain. It was not designed for fighting and thus is lightly armed, with only two medium ER lasers and two small autocannon. The armor level is also minimal so as to enhance its mission.

The Tarantula is capable of laying down a dense cloud of chemical smoke that masks it both visually and from all sensors. Some models even have jump jets to enable quick getaways in emergencies. This pilot has the Black Eel Squadron painted on the upper main hull.

Builder Notes: The key to building this Mech is to use the 3x3 special plates, the ones that are missing a corner stud. Placing four of them together creates an octogon shape that is the basis for the leg attachment. A total of eight are used.

One can also use the special 3x6 plate that is missing two corner studs (this kind of plate is commonly used as an airplane rear stabilizer).
