The Warthog is a twin-engine ground attack jet. It's primary mission is to support friendly ground units by attacking enemy ground units, especially enemy armor. The Warthog is well armed and armored, yet remains very agile due to the high power to weight ratio.
The Warthog's primary armament consists of twin heavy autocannon mounted in the nose. A large store of ammunition allows an extended loiter time. A total of 16 hardpoints below the wings allow a wide range of weapons to be carried, although this decreases range somewhat,
The rugged landing gear allows operation from secondary or hastily prepared runways close to the battle front, and the engines are mounted high and to the rear to decrease the chance of foreign objects being pulled into the engines.
The Warthog shown here has 8 of the 16 underwing hardpoints in use: 2 high explosive and 6 anti-armor missiles.
Builder's Notes: this model was inspired by the modern-day A-10 Thunderbolt II, which has an identical physical configuration and support role.
