LEGO Hover Tank

This project was inspired by the LEGO 7679 Republic Fighter Tank from the Clone Wars line

which I found in the Christmas Clearance aisle at Walmart. I combined this set with some extra pieces left over from a second 4507 Prehistoric Creatures set that I used to make the Triceratops alternate model

(because the T-Rex from my first 4507 set wanted something to eat).

There is no rotating turret on the 7679 Republic Fighter Tank set so adding one was my main goal. I also added a big main gun, a Commander's turret, and improved the driver position. (Click on any image below to expand it.)

In the process I made the vehicle hull longer and added interior details.

I retained some play features such as the pop-up guns and rotating missiles in the vehicle pontoons. The last picture is a size comparison to my Main Battle Tank.
