The Crocodile Assault Mech has a shape similar to the Stone Rhino but with several key differences. Weighing in at 90 tons, the Crocodile packs more weaponry than the Stone Rhino, yet with less weight and bulk. This was done by housing the main power plant in a sharp wedge-shaped torso, with a second power plant located between the legs. This dual powerplant arrangement allows a smaller, lighter main torso.
The "Croc" is armed with one UltraAutoannon-20, two rapid recharge PPCs, four medium ER lasers, two small ER lasers, and two machine guns. The ammo capacity for the autocannon is quite large. The on-board computer automatically balances the power output from both engines to suit mobility versus energy weapons demand. Large feet allow the mech to traverse difficult terrain handily, although they limit top speed on hard flat surfaces. Long legs compensate somewhat.
Curiously, the standard configuration lacks missiles, so some pilots decrease the UAC-20 ammo or swap two of the medium lasers for a Streak SRM battery. The rest simply improve their aim.
Builder Notes: I've always liked the menacing look of the Stone Rhino, but the weight of 100 tons seems at odds with the weapons readout. I was thus inspired to create the Crocodile. This model uses parts from many Star Wars kits, including:
Droid Fighter (feet/toes)
Sith Infiltrator (pelvis engine bulge, waist rounds, wedges)
A-wing fighter (slopes, leg tiles)
Anakin Pod racer (PPC gun openings)
