The reason I like art is because you can experiment and be creative, you can try new things and find what your style is. I like that everyone’s art is different, even if someone makes a replica of someone's artwork it has their own special touch to it. Art is a great way to express who you are. I have found you can tell lots about people from their art.  Art lets me take risks which is an important part of growing, it lets me try new things and see what I like and dislike. Art is important to society because it sparks creativity and brings things to life. Art makes things more interactive and interesting, it keeps the viewer hooked.

I was inspired by my friend Camila Ceballos-Baliga. Over the summer she tried out embroidery and I thought it was such a fun idea. I did a little research on it and found it wasn't too hard. During this term I made 2 ½ different embroidery shirts. The first one I made was 3 lavender flowers, the second a giraffe (which I ended up not liking), and the last half one I made little oranges which half way through I didn't like. I ended up not having lots of time to finish it so I decided not to because I wasn't going to like it, I also had to finish this artist statement. When people see my work I hope they are inspired to try something new. Though I do dislike two out of the three pieces I made, I enjoyed making them and dont regret that I did.
