Lois

Hello, I'm Lois and I'm in 8th grade. I use she/her pronouns. Art is important to me because I love how you can make anything with art. When I am making art I feel happy because I can be creative. Showing my art makes me proud of what I have accomplished. Art is important to society because it can brighten up people's mood. When they are walking down a random street they might see a mural and it could make their day so much better. When I show my art and I love the art I feel really good showing the work I spent a lot of my time on and tried my best. I started art when I was really young. I love doing it with my cousins in the summer. We make so much art when they come and it is so so so so so fun. I do art with lots of my friends and family. It makes me really happy when making art.

When thinking about what piece I was going to make I really thought about installation. I thought they were really cool so I based my project off of it. I got inspiration off of an installation and made it smaller to fit in the box so the concept really showed but it was not the size of a room. My piece is a box that is filled with lights. On all sides of the box there are mirrors so it contracts with the lights and makes them go on forever. The materials that helped me create this masterpiece were cardboard for the sides, lights for the installation, and mirrors to really show the different sides of my piece. When you put your face in the box it is really cool when you look around.
