I have been doing art for as long as I can remember. I think that "Art" is a loose term. My whole family loves making art, and they have been making it with me since I was really little. I've gone from breaking countless Crayola markers through mindless scribbling to experimenting with all sorts of styles and mediums, including realistic sketches, cartoons, anime, semi-realistic, sculpture, jewelry, watercolors, pencil sketches, alcohol markers, acrylics, fabric, etc. I draw all the time. I love to experiment with new techniques and styles and receive feedback to get better at drawing.  Right now my favorite art mediums are fabric and watercolor markers.

This project started out as a joke, but as I started planning I realized that I actually wanted to make something that I thought was pretty. I was shopping with my Grandma at a Seattle Recreative when I found the most fantastic silky, teal, rose fabric that I had ever seen. And of course, since my Grandmother is fantastic, she bought it for me, and that was when the inspiration struck me like a lightning bolt. I wanted to make something that was classically appealing but wove together interesting colors, shapes, and textures to create a diverse sensorial effect. I used the fabric I mentioned before (I’m not exactly sure what type of fabric it is, some sort of crepe) for the skirt and bodice, a bronze organza fabric for the sleeves, a sage green satin for the liner, and a Thule skirt that I already had for the petticoat. I was hoping to make a fairy-like, whimsical dress that incorporated some vintage elements, and although it was a bit of a struggle, I’m really happy with how it turned out. Her name is Valentina and I think that she’s a vision.
