My art is based on Studio Ghibli, a filmmaking studio. They’ve made plenty of movies including My Neighbor Totoro, Howl’s Moving Castle, Kiki’s Delivery Service, and much more. I chose to make my project Studio Ghibli-themed because I love Studio Ghibli, especially their art style and design choices. I like making art because it is fun and very calming to just sit down and paint for hours. Even though it is very painful. I got much better at managing my time in art for this because I ended up having a lot to do, and I organized it well enough to finish on time. I did not think i was going to finish at first, but i did much better than I thought I would.

To make this piece, I used a large variety of mixed media. Those materials were acrylic paint, marker, colored pencil, and watercolor painting. I usually don’t use this many mediums in one piece, so this was definitely a learning experience. For most of the project, I had different characters or significant parts of different Studio Ghibli films, but for the background, I did more abstract art. I hope that when viewers look at my art they want to watch Studio Ghibli movies. Even while making it I wanted to watch Studio Ghibli movies. I didn’t have much meaning behind this piece, I just really enjoy Studio Ghibli and I wanted to draw the cute little guys from it. That’s all I have to say about my art project! Yay!
