I enjoy doing art because it’s a good way to just let go without anyone telling you otherwise. While thinking of what to do for this project I realized that I am always creating art very structured. I always have a set picture in my mind of how I want it to end up like. So with this project I decided to step out of my comfort zone and experiment with block printing and clay. I don’t often use these mediums but when I do, I don’t spend ages figuring it out because it's pretty straight forward: Carve and stamp or sculpt and dry. Throughout this project I got better at my skills of going with the flow. During this project my final idea changed A LOT but even after everything I am very happy with how it turned out.

While making this everyone was confused and wanted to know, what are you making? Well in short, in the beginning, I wasn’t sure but overall I just wanted to make something that is interesting and I can re-purpose and continue to use. I was inspired by block printers, and from my experience last year– when I first tried block printing– I really enjoyed creating them so I knew I wanted it to be a part of my project.  My piece includes 2 block prints. One with fish layered upon fish. This was one of my original designs but I decided it was too crowded. So with the second print, I kept it simple with a multicolor background. Around the whole piece are 3D-painted fish I hand-designed. I used many colors but mainly I used blues and purples to really hint that the piece is to look like an aquarium. I really enjoyed creating this project and I hope you enjoy looking at it too.
