I think art because it's a way to express myself. With my art project I really enjoyed seeing it come together. I think art is important because it can be something that everyone gets to enjoy. You don’t need to be special to enjoy art. I can show ideas or make a point or just be there to be pretty. There is almost always something for everyone in art. Some skills that I learned was being patient, not trying to rush ahead but just taking a breath and going slow. I also had to use my time strategically I had a lot to get done so I love how my art piece turned out and am excited to show it. I think that it helps us see what the past looked like. Many pieces of art are really old so you can see what 200 years ago would have looked like for example what people wore, how they did their hair and you can see the art style at the time.

My art piece is inspired by Nick Cave and Yayoi Kusama. Nick Cave makes statues and Yayoi Kusama makes pieces with dots in them. I love both of their work and wanted to do a piece of a combination. I used a wire base to make what looked like a stick figure and glued different pieces of it together. I also molded it with pliers to get it to the shape I wanted. This took time. Then I began to sew 3d circles and glued them onto the statue. This took me the longest. I had to try many different tactics to see what worked the best and took the least time. I also found that yarn is better than stuffing because it doesn't come out. Even though there were many frustrating parts, I am super proud of my piece and loved the experience of making it.
