Art is something that I enjoy doing because it’s fun and creative. At the end of a long day, painting or sketching something lifts my mood and helps me to process the day. Art is so important to society because it’s a way for people to express themselves, explore ideas, and share their opinions in a creative way. People can connect over art even if they aren’t from the same place or don’t speak the same language. I think that’s one of the many powers of art. As I was working on my 8th-grade art project, I realized that mistakes don’t have to ruin or define my work. A lot of the time mistakes are what give art personality and uniqueness, so I shouldn’t fear or try to eliminate mistakes. By using mistakes to grow as an artist, I think my project turned out a lot better than if I had tried to make it perfect by avoiding mistakes and redoing my paintings again and again.

This series of watercolor paintings was inspired by all the beautiful sunsets and sunrises that I have seen. I think that nature can be so beautiful, and I tried to show that through these paintings. I want the viewer to focus on the colors and textures of the watercolor paintings and think about scenes in nature that they have seen and think about how it made them feel. I used watercolors and watercolor paper for the paintings, and I decided to hang them together using clear string. I wanted to show the same scene in different colors and lights to show that the sky had changed and time passed, but the place was still the same.
