6/14/2019 New Balance Nationals 0 South Brunswick 0 4x800 Earns Medals at Nationals!
The Vikings had a strong showing at the New Balance Nationals in North Carolina over the weekend! The highlight was the Emerging Elite 4x800 team of Marisa Keiser, Chantel Osley, Cassie Vega, and Nikhila Obbineni running a time of 9:27.45 to earn 2nd place medals! In addition, Jess Rodgers made the finals of the Emerging Elite Javelin and placed 8th!

Due to the senior prom, the Vikings had only four of ten qualified athletes compete at the Meet of Champions. Those four competed well, with Nikhila Obbineni earning her first individual Meet of Champs medal with her 5th place finish in the 800 (2:15.12)!

Many of the Vikings ended their season with new PRs at the East Brunswick Last Chance Twilight! The main highlights came in the 1600, where Nikhila Obbineni (4:57), Marisa Keiser (5:11), Chantel Osley (5:12), and Yashika Chidirala (5:16) all ran times that rank among the top-10 in school history! Obbineni becomes just the third girl in school history to break the 5:00 barrier!

6/1/2019 Group IV State Championships 0 South Brunswick 0 10 Advance to Meet of Champs!
At the Group IV State Championships over the weekend in Franklin, the Vikings advanced 10 athletes in a total of 7 events to the Meet of Champions next weekend! The teams scored 15 points and earned medals in 4 events. Leading the way with a 3rd place finish was the 4x800 team of Marisa Keiser, Chantel Osley, Cassie Vega, and Nikhila Obbineni that ran 9:22.67, the #2 time in school history! Obbineni also ran a huge PR of 2:13.46 to take 3rd in the 800. Her time is #2 in school history! Osley finished 6th in the same race in 2:15.36, a big PR and #5 in school history! Other top-6 medal winners were Jess Rodgers in the Javelin (6th, 120-10), and Sabrina Ray in the Pole Vault (6th, 11-0). Other non-medalists advancing to the MOC as wildcards are the 4x400 team of Joanna Taitt, Obbineni, Janai Orders, and Osley that ran a big season-best of 3:54.99 to finish 8th and grab the #4 spot in school history; Adwoa Ansong, 9th in the shot put (35-10.25); Janai Orders, 11th in the Triple Jump (35-6.5); and Renee Nartey, 12th in the Triple Jump (35-5.5).

5/25/2019 South Brunswick 102 Central Jersey IV Sectionals 62 Sectional Champs!
The Vikings had two days of amazing performances to come out on top at the Central Jersey Group IV Sectional Championships over the weekend at Howell! The team scored 102 points to run away with the team's 5th straight victory at this meet! The team won 3 events, and 17 athletes contributed to the scoring, with many setting huge lifetime personal bests!
All three event victories came on Friday. In the Javelin, Jess Rodgers had a 9-foot personal best of 121'7 to finish first! She is now #8 all-time in school history! Nikhila Obbineni ran a PR of 5:03.02 to capture the 1600, with her time placing her #3 all-time in school history! She also returned later that day to anchor the 4x800 to a big victory with a time of 9:26.60, #4 in school history! Her teammates on the winning relay were Marisa Keiser, Chantel Osley, and Cassie Vega. Obbineni was also 2nd in the 800 (2:15.22 PR) and ran on the 2nd place 4x400 team (4:00.01 season best) along with Osley, Joanna Taitt, and Janai Orders.
Other medal winners who will advance to next weekend's Group IV State Championships are: Becky Hartman, 2nd in the 3200 (11:17); Sabrina Ray, 2nd in the Pole Vault (11'0); Chantel Osley, 3rd in the 800 (2:16.84, #5 in school history), and 5th in the 1600 (5:14) in addition to her legs on the two relays (4x400 and 4x800); Renee Nartey, 3rd in the Triple Jump (35'9.25, 2 foot PR, #6 in school history); Marisa Keiser, 3rd in the 3200 (11:24); Adwoa Ansong, 4th in the Shot Put (37'1.5, 2 foot PR) and 6th in the Discus (113'7, 10 foot PR); Liz Matticoli, 4th in the Javelin (112'1, 13 foot PR); Janai Orders, 4th in the Triple Jump (35'5.25 PR, 7th in school history) in addition to running on the 4x400; the 4x100 team of Riley Ratcliffe, Asha Muller, Chanyel Pittman, and Joanna Taitt that ran a big season-best of 49.53 for 4th (#10 in school history); Jill Carbone, 6th in the Long Jump (17'5, 11 inch PR); Yashika Chidirala, 6th in the 3200 (11:30 PR, #8 all-time); and Joanna Taitt, 6th in the 200 (26.00) in addition to her legs on the 4x100 and 4x400 relay.
In addition, all three high jumpers (Chelsea Eltringham, Khushi Gupta, and Melanie La Corte) tied or set new PRs by jumping 5'0, with La Corte tying the freshman record in the process!

5/22/2019 South Brunswick 126 GMC Freshman Championships 59 GMC Freshman Champs!
The Viking freshman had their turn in the spotlight on Wednesday in Old Bridge, and had a fantastic meet to win the GMC Freshman championship! The team scored 126 points, with 12 athletes earning medals and many others setting new personal bests!
Leading the way with event victories were Renee Nartey in the 100 Hurdles (17.52) and the Long Jump (15'6); Srinidhi Gopalan in the 1600 (5:53); Nina Liu in the 800 (2:30); Melanie La Corte in the High Jump (4'10, tied the meet record); and Carly Rosen, who threw 98'5 in the Javelin to set a big personal best and break the meet record in the process!

5/15/2019 South Brunswick 148 GMC Championships 72 GMC Champions!
The South Brunswick girls kept their undefeated season going on Wednesday night in Old Bridge, as the team captured the GMC Championship for the 14th straight year! The team had 23 athletes contribute to the 148 point total! The team won five events and scored in 15 of the 18 events over the course of the two-day meet.
Event victories were recorded on Tuesday by Nikhila Obbineni in the 1600 (5:07) and the 4x800 team of Yashika Chidirala, Becky Hartman, Liann Zyontz, and Cassie Vega that ran 10:03! On Wednesday, Jess Rodgers won the Javelin (110-10), Becky Hartman won the 3200 (11:21), and Sabrina Ray won her third straight Pole Vault title, and in the process, tied the all-time school record (11'9 set indoors), and broke the meet and outdoor county record as well!
With the GMC victory, the class of 2019 finishes their career undefeated in GMC competition!

The Vikings had a great showing at the Holmdel Night of 3200s meet on Friday night. The team had many new personal bests, highlighted by four athletes earning spots on the school's all-time top-10 list! Leading the way was Nikhila Obbineni (11:07.28) who moved to #2 all-time, followed by Becky Hartman (11:10.63), who improved to #3 all-time, Marisa Keiser, who jumped to #5 all-time (11:17.42), and Yashika Chidirala, who ran 11:31.51 for #8 all-time! Obbineni's time is also the new senior class record!

5/1/2019 South Brunswick 118 Middlesex County Relays 65 GMC Relays Champs!
South Brunswick captured its 14th consecutive GMC Relays title on Wednesday night! The team won 6 events and scored 118 points to run away with the victory! The team won three events on each day. On Tuesday, the team of Marisa Keiser, Chantel Osley, Becky Hartman, and Nikhila Obbineni ran 21:37.08 (#3 all-time in school history) for the win! In the field, the discus team of Amanda Scattergood, Adwoa Ansong, and Vanessa Wish combined to throw 304-10 for the win, while the Triple Jump team of Jill Carbone, Brooke Valan, and Renee Nartey jumped a total of 100-3.25 for the victory!
On Wednesday, the team won three field events. In the Pole Vault, Sabrina Ray, Riley Ratcliffe, and Hannah Trpisovsky jumped 25-6 for 1st place (and the 10th consecutive year SB has won the Pole Vault relay), while the throwers completed the sweep of the throwing events. In the Shot Put, Adwoa Ansong, Liz Matticoli, and Mya Ross threw a combined 100-5.25, and in the Javelin, Jess Rodgers, Matticoli, and Edith Gonzalez threw 300-2 for the final victory!

4/16/2019 South Brunswick 213 Red Division Championship 115 Vikings Win Red Division!
South Brunswick captured the Red Division title for the 13th straight season on Tuesday night at JFK! The team scored 213 points and had many athletes chip in with top-6 performances. This year marked the first time that a division championship meet was held, and the team won 10 of the 16 events, including all but one field event!
Winners were the following athletes: Jill Carbone in the Long & Triple Jumps, Sabrina Ray in the Pole Vault, Adwoa Ansong in the Shot Put, Jess Rodgers in the Javelin, Amanda Scattergood in the Discus, Joanna Taitt in the 100, Chantel Osley in the 800, Becky Hartman in the 1600, and Nikhila Obbineni in the 3200!

South Brunswick captured the A division of the East Brunswick Invitational on Saturday! The team had many new PRs and earned lots of medals. On the track, the team had one first place finish in varsity events. The distance medley team of Becky Hartman, Divya Pola, Nina Liu, and Nikhila Obbineni ran 13:04.55 for the win! In the field, the pole vault duo of Sabrina Ray and Riley Ratcliffe finished first! Also in the field, the Javelin team of Jess Rodgers, Edith Gonzalez, and Liz Matticoli earned the top place! Finally, the two discus teams had an outstanding day, with the team of Amanda Scattergood, Adwoa Ansong, and Vanessa Wish earning the win, while the B team trio of Sarah Sadek, Maddie Ianniello and Liz Matticoli actually combined to throw a foot farther!

At Howell, the throwers won both the Discus and Javelin relays! In the discus, the team of Amanda Scattergood, Sarah Sadek, and Maddie Ianniello threw a combined 290-10 for the win, while the Javelin team of Jess Rodgers, Edith Gonzalez, and Liz Matticoli combined for a 268-6 winning mark!
