6/5/2013 Meet of Champions 0 South Brunswick 0 5 Athletes Medal at MOC!
South Brunswick had a strong showing at the Meet of Champions, as 5 athletes came home with medals for their top-8 performances! The 4x100 team of Victoria Monteiro, Desirae Osley, Rochell McDonald, and Aspen McMillan ran a season-best of 48.69 to take 7th! In addition, McMillan ran 15.00 to take 8th in the 100 Hurdles, and just missed a medal with her 9th place time of 12.36 in the 100. The final medalist was Kristin Krier, who took 8th in the javelin at 127-10.

6/1/2013 Group IV State Championships 0 South Brunswick 0 1 State Champ, & 6 Advance to MOC
South Brunswick had a strong showing at the Group IV State Championships over the weekend, highlighted by Kristin Krier's state championship in the javelin! Her impressive throw of 132'6 was a PR of 5 feet, and extended her sophomore class record yet again! She becomes the third girl in school history to win a javelin state title, and the first in 6 years. In the team scoring, the girls scored 59.5 points to finish 5th overall. 16 of the 21 girls who competed contributed to the team's output. Other highlights were the 4x100 relay team finishing third in a season-best 48.78! The team of Victoria Monteiro, Desirae Osley, Rochell McDonald, and Aspen McMillan turned in the 3rd fastest time in school history. In addition, McMillan medaled in 2 individual events, the 100 and 100 Hurdles. In the 100, she finished 5th with a time of 12.17, a time that breaks the school record, which was a hand-timed 12.1! In the 100 Hurdles, she ran 14.72 to finish 6th. The other medalist was Danielle Padovano, who threw a PR of 124-2 to take 4th in the discus! Her mark improves her own senior class record. She also qualified for the Meet of Champs as a wildcard in the shot put, where she finished 8th with a throw of 37-2.5.

5/25/2013 Central Jersey IV Sectionals 84 South Brunswick 72 Vikings Finish 2nd at Sectionals
The Lady Vikings finished 2nd at the Central Jersey Group IV Sectionals at Hillsborough over the weekend. The team scored 72 points and had 14 athletes earn medals, while another 7 athletes will qualify for the state meet as part of the new scoring system at states this year. The team was led by Danielle Padovano, who won both the shot put (36-9.5) and discus (123-10 PR)! The discus title marks the 2nd straight year she has won that event, and her mark also broke the senior class record! The team also had two athletes earn the maximum of 4 medals each. Aspen McMillan was 3rd in both the 100 (12.80) and 100 Hurdles (14.58), 6th in the 400 Hurdles (70.08), and ran a leg on the 2nd place 4x100 (50.50). Desirae Osley was 4th in the 200 (26.70), 5th in the 400 (60.94), and ran on the 4x100 and 3rd place 4x400 (4:08.99). Other individual medalists were Kristin Krier, 3rd in the javelin (127-6 PR); Zyjira Thomas, 4th in the 100 Hurdles (15.29); Nateya Harris, 4th in the shot put (33-8.25); Brianna Del Piano, 5th in the discus (103-2); Lindsay Del Piano, tied for 5th in the pole vault (9-0); Denise Porter, 6th in the shot put (32-7.75); and Rachel VanDemark, 6th in the javelin (104-9). Rounding out the 4x100 relay were Victoria Monteiro and Rochell McDonald, while McDonald also ran on the 4x400 with Julia Lekht and Imani Man in addition to Osley.

The Lady Vikings turned in many great performances Monday night at the Carl Lewis Relays in Willingboro. Among the highlights were the following class records, which were broken or tied:
Aspen McMillan breaking her own sophomore class record with her time of 63.73 in the 400 Hurdles. She combined with Zyjira Thomas to win the 2x400 Hurdle event!
Kristin Krier's throw of 126-10 in the javelin broke her own sophomore record, and was the top throw in the meet!
Danielle Hecht's jump of 9-6 in the pole vault, which tied the sophomore class record!
Daniella Izzo's jump of 8-6 in the pole vault, which broke the freshman class record!

5/13/2013 South Brunswick 122 GMC Championships 83 GMC Champs!
South Brunswick captured its 8th straight GMC Championship on Monday night by adding 2 more event titles and scoring an overall total of 122 points during the 2-day meet! The team had 20 athletes who contributed to the scoring, with many personal best and records set along the way.
On the second day of competition, Aspen McMillan won the 100 Hurdles with a time of 14.36, a performance that equalled the school record! She also ran anchor on the winning 4x100 relay (49.30), where she was joined by Victoria Monteiro, Desirae Osley, and Rochell McDonald.
Other medalists on day two were Julia Lekht, who took 4th in the triple jump (34-0.5) and 6th in the high jump (4-10); Danielle Padovano, 2nd in the shot put (36-2.5); Nateya Harris, 4th in the shot put (33-1.25); Elisa Meranchik, 4th in the 3200 (11:35.89 PR); Desirae Osley, 4th in the 200 (26.03); Zyjira Thomas, 5th in the 100 Hurdles (15.15 PR); and Denise Porter, 6th in the shot put (32-2.25 PR).

5/10/2013 GMC Championships 0 South Brunswick 0 Vikings Start Well at GMC Championships!
South Brunswick had a strong first day of competition at the GMC Championships Friday night. The team scored in 7 of the 9 events, and had 14 athletes contribute to the scoring.
The team was led by event winners in 3 events. Danielle Padovano won her 2nd straight discus title with her throw of 115-3! Lindsay Del Piano continued a 3-year streak of Viking wins in the pole vault with her season-best jump of 9-0! Aspen McMillan won the 100 dash in 12.41, a time that tied the sophomore class record! She also placed 6th in the long jump with a mark of 16-3.5.
The Vikings also had two 2nd place finishes. Kristin Krier placed a close 2nd in the javelin (125-1), while the 4x800 team of Taiyana Madden, Carly Trill, Imani Man, and Jess Himmel ran a season-best time of 9:51.73.
3rd place performances were recorded by Brianna Del Piano in the discus (106-1 PR); Rachel VanDemark in the javelin (111-6 PR); Julia Lekht in the long jump (17-2); and Danielle Hecht, who tied for 3rd in the pole vault (8-6).
In 5th place was Desirae Osley, who lowered her own freshman 400 record by 1 second with her time of 58.08! In addition, Nikki Cavett also placed 5th with her leap of 8-6 in the pole vault.

The Lady Vikings defeated Old Bridge on Tuesday to clinch the Red Division title with a perfect 5-0 record in dual meets! It also means that the class of 2013 finishes undefeated in their 4-year dual meet career! The team was led by double event winner Julia Lekht, who captured the long jump (16-7) and the triple jump (33-7)!

The South Brunswick girls' track & field team won its 8th straight GMC Relays title on Wednesday night in commanding fashion! The team won 5 events on the second day, and 6 overall, while scoring in 15 of 16 events to compile a total of 108 points! 28 athletes contributed to the winning total, which was 36 points more than the 2nd place team!
The team was led by 5 field event victories, starting on day 1 with the discus relay of Danielle Padovano (110-7), Brianna Del Piano (102-8 PR), and Kristin Krier (84-6) that threw a combined 297-9! On the second day, field victories went to the long jump team of Julia Lekht, Aspen McMillan, and Jada-Rae Poku that jumped a total of 47-6.5; the pole vault team of Nikki Cavett (8-6 PR), Danielle Hecht (8-6 PR), and Lindsay Del Piano (8-0) that combined to reach 25-0; the the shot put team of Padovano (37-1), Nateya Harris (32-2), and Denise Porter that tossed a combined mark of 100-6; and the javelin team of Krier (125-0), Rachel VanDemark (104-7), and Ashna Manhas (86-11) that threw 316-6!
The lone track winner was the shuttle hurdle team of Lekht, Zyjira Thomas, Khadija McDonald, and McMillan that ran a swift 63.84, the fastest time in the state so far this season!
Other highlights were the 3x400 Hurdle team of McMillan, Thomas, and Taiyana Madden breaking the school record with their combined time of 3:20.49! In addition, McMillan's time of 64.63 shattered the old sophomore class record by over 3 seconds!

4/25/2013 Penn Relays 0 South Brunswick 0 Vikings Run Well at Penn Relays!
South Brunswick had a strong showing in both relays they contested at the Penn Relays in Philadelphia! The 4x100 team of Victoria Monteiro, Desirae Osley, Rochell McDonald, and Aspen McMillan ran a quick time of 49.28, which ranked them as the 4th fastest New Jersey team on the day, and 42nd out of over 600 teams that competed! It is also the 4th fastest time in school history! The 4x400 relay also performed well, running a season-best time of 4:03.35. The team consisted of Imani Man, McMillan, Taiyana Madden, and Osley.

4/23/2013 South Brunswick 104 JP Stevens 36 Vikings Defeat JP Stevens!
The Vikings improved to 4-0 on the season with a victory over JP Stevens! The team was led by double winners Danielle Padovano and Julia Lekht. Padovano finished first in the shot put (33-11.75) and discus (111-7), while Lekht won the long jump (15-10) and triple jump (33-7). Other highlights were Maggie Kaplan tying the freshman class pole vault record with a jump of 7-6, and Kristin Krier improving her own sophomore class record in the javelin with a throw of 126-8!

4/20/2013 Raider Relays 0 South Brunswick 0 Many Medals at Raider Relays!
South Brunswick won four events and came home with plenty of other medals on Saturday at Hillsborough's Raider Relays! The team won two events on the track (4x100 and Shuttle Hurdles), while also capturing two in the field (shot put and discus). The 4x100 team ran 51.41, and was composed of Julia Lekht, Desirae Osley, Rochell McDonald, and Aspen McMillan. Lekht, McDonald, and McMillan teamed with Zyjira Thomas to win the shuttle hurdles in 65.91! The victorious throwing relays were led by Danielle Padovano, who threw a season-best in the shot put (36-8), and a near season-best of 115-9 in the discus. She teamed with Nateya Harris in the shot put (season-best 32-6.5), and Brianna Del Piano in the discus (88-3). The team medaled in 9 other relays, as well as 4 of the novice relays!

4/16/2013 South Brunswick 100 East Brunswick 40 Vikings Beat Bears!
The Lady Vikings won their 3rd dual meet of the season on Tuesday, as the team defeated East Brunswick 100-40! South Brunswick won 12 events, led by double event winners Aspen McMillan and Danielle Padovano. McMillan won the 100 (12.4) and 100 Hurdles (15.4), while Padovano won the Shot Put (36-1.5) and discus (105-5)! Other notable highlights were Desirae Osley and Kristin Krier breaking class records for the 2nd straight week! Osley won the 400 with a time of 59.0 to set a new freshman class mark, while Krier extended her own sophomore record in the javelin yet again, with a winning mark of 124-10!

South Brunswick won its 2nd dual meet of the season by defeating Piscataway on Tuesday! The team took advantage of the great weather and won 14 of the 16 events, with 30 athletes contributing to the scoring!
Danielle Padovano was the lone double winner, as she captured the shot put (33-2) and the discus (107-0).
Other highlights included Desirae Osley breaking the 200 freshman class record with her winning time of 25.7, and Kristin Krier improving on her own sophomore class record in the javelin with her winning mark of 123-4!

South Brunswick had a strong showing at the Summit Relays on Saturday, highlighted by a near sweep in the throws! The team of Danielle Padovano (35-7.5), Nateya Harris (31-6.5), and Denise Porter (29-2) combined to throw 96-4 to win the shot put! The javelin team of Kristin Krier (120-6), Rachel VanDemark (91-2), and Ashna Manhas (81-6) was also victorious, with Krier's mark setting a new sophomore class school record!

4/2/2013 South Brunswick 102 Edison 37 Vikings Open With Win!
The Lady Vikings opened their spring season with a chilly victory over Edison on Tuesday! The team won 13 of the 16 events and had 24 athletes contribute to the scoring. Leading the way was double individual winner Danielle Padovano, who captured the shot put (35-1.5) and the discus (118-4). In addition, Imani Man and Julia Lekht won individual events and came back to run on the winning 4x400. Man won the 400 (65.0), and Lekht won the triple jump (33-0.5). Other athletes who won individual events were Victoria Monteiro in the 100 (13.2), Elizabeth Kenny in the 1600 (5:59), Aspen McMillan in the 100 Hurdles (15.4), Desirae Osley in the 800 (2:32), Elisa Meranchik in the 3200 (12:14), Lindsay Del Piano in the pole vault (8-6), Daniella Izzo in the high jump (4-4), and Kristin Krier in the javelin (110-0). Rochell McDonald and Taiyana Madden joined Lekht and Man on the winning 4x400 (4:28.3).
