2/24/2009 Eastern States 0 South Brunswick 0 What A Night!
The Vikings closed their winter season in style on Tuesday night with many fine performances at the Eastern States in New York!
The girls started the night with an excellent distance medley relay, as the team of Cayla Del Piano (3:42 1200 PR), Janae Baker (61.3 400), Jenni Smilgis (2:29 800), and Sophia Ginez (4:57 1600 PR) ran 12:10.83 to finish 7th! The time also knocked over 16 seconds off their own school and county record set earlier this winter, and is the 4th best time by a NJ school this year!
Individually, the Vikings also had a strong night, as Mariah Browne and Ginez both recorded 5th place finishes! In the 800, Ginez ran 2:16.64 to lower her own school record!
Other top finishes were turned in by the 8th place 4X400 team of Jamie Thompson (59.7 PR), Baker (61.2 PR), Jamielyn Samper (62.8), and Alicia Osley (61.7) that ran a near season-best of 4:05.43; and the 11th place finishes of Lauryn Strebeck in the triple jump with a near-PR of 35-7.5, and Emily Skalko, who tied her high jump PR of 5-2.
