The Vikings had several season bests at the Eastern States Championships on Tuesday night at the NY Armory! The top performance was the Distance Medley team running the #4 time in school history! The team of Essence Baker, Latisha Witherspoon, Natalie Ginez, and Chantel Osley ran 12:25.75 to finish 11th in a very competitive race, and all four girls set new season or lifetime bests!

2/26/2017 Meet of Champions 0 South Brunswick 0 Meet of Champions Winner!
Courteney Campbell won the Meet of Champions High Jump title on Sunday in Toms River! She cleared 5'6" to capture her second consecutive Meet of Champs title! She remains the only indoor MOC winner in school history, and now has three total MOC victories, indoors and out. Also earning a medal in her first individual appearance at the Meet of Champs was Essence Baker, who finished 5th in the 800! She ran an evenly-paced time of 2:17.03, just off her PR set at Groups!

2/17/2017 Group IV State Championships 0 South Brunswick 0 2nd Place at Groups!
South Brunswick had their highest team finish ever at the Group IV State Championships on Friday night in Toms River! The team scored 26 points and finished 2nd place, only 3 points away from the title! The team had 3 medal winners and a total of 7 athletes who will advance to the Meet of Champions!
Leading the way with a thrilling victory in the high jump was Courteney Campbell! She cleared 5'6 to tie her indoor PR after having to clear 5'5 in a jump-off with another competitor. She becomes only the fourth girl in school history to win an indoor Group state title! Also medaling with new personal bests were Nicole Notarianni and Essence Baker, both of whom finished 2nd! Notarianni ran 8.51 in the 55 Hurdles to qualify for the Meet of Champions for the first time, while Baker ran 2:16.82 to earn her 2nd place finish out of the unseeded heat! Earning wildcard bids to the Meet of Champions were Miranda Irizarry and the 4x400 relay team of Latisha Witherspoon, Chantel Osley, Chloe Hypolite, and Baker. Irizarry threw a huge personal best in the shot put of over a foot with her mark of 39-2.75 which was good for 8th place, while the relay team ran a big season best time of 4:05.75 to grab 9th place.

2/7/2017 Rebel Shot Put Championship 0 South Brunswick 0 Two Medal Winners!
Miranda Irizarry and Olivia Scattergood both earned medals at Howell High School's Rebel Shot Put Championship on Tuesday night! Irizarry placed 4th with a throw of 36'6.75, while Scattergood was 5th at 35'0.

2/5/2017 South Brunswick 56 Central Jersey Group IV Sectionals 41 Sectional Champions!
The Vikings continued their winning ways on Sunday in Toms River by capturing their second consecutive Central Jersey Group IV title, which was also their fourth championship of the season! The team scored a total of 56 points by placing in 8 of the 10 events. Seven athletes earned medals and will advance to the Group IV State Championship meet in two weeks.
Leading the way with event victories were Chantel Osley, Nicole Notarianni, Courteney Campbell, and Essence Baker, each of whom won their first indoor sectional title! Osley pulled away to win the 1600 in a PR of 5:16.65, 5th all-time in school history; Notarianni won the 55 Hurdles in a PR of 8.55, 3rd best in school history; Courteney Campbell won the High Jump at 5'6 (=PR indoors); and Essence Baker won the 800 at 2:22.08! Baker also took 4th in the 400 (59.84 indoor PR), while Osley grabbed 6th in the 800 (2:24.57).
Other medal winners were Sabrina Ray, 3rd in the Pole Vault (9'0 =PR); Miranda Irizarry, 4th in the Shot Put (37'0.25); and the 6th place 4x400 team of Chloe Hypolite, Osley, Notarianni, and Baker that ran 4:10.40.

The Vikings had four medal winners and many other strong performances at the competitive Ocean Breeze Invitational on Sunday in Staten Island. Highlights were Courteney Campbell's 3rd place in the High Jump (5'4), Nicole Notarianni's 6th place finish in the 55 Hurdles (8.69 =PR), and two medalists in the freshman shot put: Mya Ross 2nd place (31'3.75 PR) and Adwoa Ansong, 4th place (29'4.75).

1/21/2017 South Brunswick 48 Group IV State Relays 36 Group IV Relays State Champions! Three-peat!
South Brunswick won their 3rd consecutive Group IV Relays State Championship on Saturday in Toms River! The team had an amazing day of competition filled with new personal bests and outstanding performances! The Vikings scored 48 points, their most during the three-year run, scored in eight events, and won two of them!
Leading the way with event victories were the high jump and shuttle hurdle teams. The high jump duo of Courteney Campbell and Sydney Schneider both cleared 5'4 for a combined height of 10'8, which marks the second straight year the team won that event! The shuttle hurdle team of Schneider, Misha Duverger, Chelsea Eltringham, and Nicole Notarianni ran a blazing time of 32.50 to break not only the school record, but also the all-time Middlesex County Record!
The team also had two second place finishes to close out the meet. In the Sprint Medley, the team of Latisha Witherspoon, Duverger, Riley Ratcliffe, and Essence Baker ran a swift 4:15.53 (just outside the school all-time top-10 list), while the 4x400 team of Witherspoon, Chantel Osley, Notarianni, and Baker ran a season-best of 4:09.71!
In 3rd place was the shot put team of Miranda Irizarry (37-9.5) and Olivia Scattergood (33-4) who combined to throw 71-1.5!
The 4x200 team of Witherspoon, Notarianni, Duverger, and Ratcliffe ran a season-best time of 1:49.72 to snag 4th place out of an unseeded heat, beating all but three teams in the final two heats!
Closing out the scoring for the Vikings were a pair of important 6th place finishes. In the pole vault, Sabrina Ray (8-0) and Eltringham (7-0) jumped a combined 15-0, while the Distance Medley team of Baker, Chloe Hypolite, Natalie Ginez, and Osley ran a very strong time of 12:39.08, which is the 5th fastest all-time in school history, and the team's fastest in 5 years!

1/12/2017 SJTCA Winter Series 0 South Brunswick 0 Good Showing at Novice Meet!
South Brunswick had a good showing on Thursday night at the SJTCA Novice meet in Toms River! The team had ten athletes earn medals, including four event winners! On the track, Riley Ratcliffe won the 55 Dash in 7.90, just off her PR! Misha Duverger won the 55 Hurdles (9.58), as well as lead-off on the winning 4x400 relay that ran 4:26.22, and was joined by Joanna Taitt, Lauren Powell, and Janai Orders. In the field, Chelsea Eltringham won the high jump at 4'10, beating teammate Raquel Ferrara, who cleared the same height, in a jump-off!

1/7/2017 South Brunswick 74 GMC Relays 32 GMC Relays Champions!
South Brunswick won their 3rd straight GMC Relays title on Sunday night, scoring a total of 74 points to run away with the title! The team won 6 of the 9 varsity events, and all 28 athletes who competed earned at least one medal! On the track, the Vikings won the first two events, the Distance Medley and Shuttle Hurdles. Essence Baker, Olivia Hutchison, Natalie Ginez, and Chantel Osley combined to run 13:08.06 for the win in the DMR, while Sydney Schneider, Misha Duverger, Janai Orders, and Nicole Notarianni ran 33.18 for the hurdle win! The third winner on the track was the Sprint Medley team of Chloe Hypolite, Duverger, Schneider, and Baker that ran 4:23.49! In the field, the shot put duo of Miranda Irizarry and Olivia Scattergood threw a combined 67-0 for the win! Rounding out a field event sweep were the winning jumps relays. In the high jump, Courteney Campbell and Schneider jumped a combined 10-6, while the pole vault tandem of Sabrina Ray and Chelsea Eltringham jumped 16-0!

The Vikings had a strong start to their winter season at the Bob James Invitational at Princeton University. The team had many strong performances, including 4 event victories! Leading the way in the field were Olivia Scattergood, who won the shot put in her first-ever indoor meet (35'4.5"), and Courteney Campbell, who tied her indoor PR with a winning height of 5'6"! On the track, Sydney Schneider had a near-PR of 8.78 in winning the 55 Hurdles, while Essence Baker won the 1600 in her first-ever race at that distance with a time of 5:25.17!
