6/16/2006 Nationals 0 South Brunswick 0 2 School Records & a 7th Place Finish!

South Brunswick closed a successful season in fine fashion at the Nike Outdoor Nationals in Greensboro, North Carolina over the weekend.

In the 4X200 late Friday night, the foursome of Stephanie McIntyre (26.4), Simone Hill (25.8), Jessie Boynton (24.8), and Eve Mizerak (26.1) ran 1:43.30 to break their own school record set earlier this year. The time was good for 11th overall in the quality field, and ranks 6th in the state this year.

The same quartet ran Saturday afternoon in the short Sprint Medley (100-100-200-400), and again lowered their own school record to 1:47.43 which ranked 13th overall. The legs were handled in the order of McIntyre, Hill, Mizerak (25.6), and Boynton (56.1).

The highest finish by a Viking was Indira Morton's 7th place finish in the javelin. She had the 2nd best throw of her career at 135-11 to just miss 6th place and All-American status by 8 inches.

6/7/2006 Meet of Champs 0 South Brunswick 0 An All-Groups Champ & 2 Medalists at MOC!

South Brunswick had a good showing at the rainy Meet of Champions on Thursday night in South Plainfield, with 3 athletes earning medals.

Stephanie McIntyre won the Triple Jump with a leap of 38-11.5 to become an All-Groups Champion! Her winning distance came on her 6th and final jump of the competition.

Also earning medals were Indira Morton, who had a 2nd place finish in the javelin with a throw of 127-11, and Jessie Boynton, who took 6th out of the unseeded section of the 400 in 56.77.

6/3/2006 Group IV State Championships 0 South Brunswick 0 1 More State Champ and 2 School Records!

South Brunswick had another outstanding day on Saturday at the Group IV State Championships.

Stephanie McIntyre won the Vikings' second State Championship of the meet when she leaped 39-7.75 on her last jump in the triple jump! The mark was a PR by .75 inches, and it set a Group IV meet and All-Groups meet record! The jump also improved her own Junior Class State Record.

The 4X400 team also qualified for the Meet of Champs by virtue of their 7th place performance which will earn them a wild card entry. The foursome of McIntyre (61.4), Rebecca Russo (60.7), Eve Mizerak (58.9 PR), and Jessie Boynton (55.1 PR) ran 3:56.36, a time that broke their own school record by .06! All 5 Viking athletes who competed this weekend advanced to the Meet of Champions!

6/2/2006 Group IV State Championships 0 South Brunswick 0 1 State Champ and 2 other MOC qualifiers!

South Brunswick had a great first day of competition at the Group IV State Championships in Egg Harbor. Three athletes advanced to the Meet of Champions next week in South Plainfield!

Indira Morton led the way by winning a State Championship in the javelin with a PR throw of 139-4! Four of her six throws were over 130 feet! It was the first state title for a Viking female in 6 years.

Finishing in 4th place was Stephanie McIntyre with a leap of 17-0.25 in the long jump. Jessie Boynton finished 6th in the 400 with a time of 57.72 to also advance to the MOC.

Morton also finished 8th in the long jump (16-3.5) to earn a wild card entry into the MOC, and McIntyre finished 10th in the 100 (12.86).

5/27/2006 Central Jersey Sectionals 0 South Brunswick 0 3rd place team finish and 2 individual champions!

South Brunswick ended up in 3rd place with 47 points at the Central Jersey Group IV Championships, one point away from 2nd place.

On the second day, the Vikings won another individual championship when Stephanie McIntyre captured the triple jump! Stephanie leapt 38-0.25 to take the title, and in the process set a new meet record!

The 4X400 team of McIntyre (60.8), Rebecca Russo (62.3), Eve Mizerak (60.2), and Jessie Boynton (57.5) took third with a time of 4:00.8.

Krista Belick just missed qualifying for states in the pole vault, but cleared a PR 9-0 to take 7th.

Boynton also ran 2:21.8 in the 800 to finish 7th, a performance which nearly broke the school record.

5/26/2006 Central Jersey Sectionals 0 South Brunswick 0 Vikings in Second After Day One!

After the first day of the Central Jersey Group IV Sectionals, South Brunswick is in 2nd place with 31 points. Scoring points for the Vikings and advancing to states were the following athletes:

  • Indira Morton won the javelin with a throw of 129-7, and also finished 2nd in the long jump with a new personal best of 17-7.25!

  • Stephanie McIntyre also qualified for states in 2 events by finishing 4th in the long jump at 17-5.5, and 6th in the 100 at 12.4.

  • Jessie Boynton had a close 2nd place finish in the 400 at 56.1, not far off her personal best.

Also performing well for the Vikings was Stephanie Negrotti, who threw over 103 feet in the javelin and just missed qualifying for states; Eve Mizerak who made it to the semis of the 100; Jess Engel (5:38) and Sara MacMurray (5:44 PR) in the 1600; and Falen Watson, who ran a PR of 64.3 in the 400.

5/22/2006 East Coast Relays 0 South Brunswick 0 Good Performances at East Coast Relays!

South Brunswick traveled to Morristown on Monday and came home with 3 sets of medals and one new school record.

Finishing in 3rd place was the javelin team of Indira Morton (122-11) and Stephanie Negrotti (101-6). Morton's throw was the second best in the entire meet.

Finishing in 5th place was the 4X200 team of Stephanie McIntyre (26.2), Simone Hill (26.8), Jessie Boynton (25.3), and Eve Mizerak (25.5) that ran a time of 1:43.97 to barely miss their own school record.

Finishing in seventh but breaking the school record and qualifying for nationals was the Sprint Medley team of Hill (26.1), Mizerak (26.8), McIntyre (61.0), and Boynton (2:20.3 PR) that ran 4:14.41.

The shuttle hurdle team of Stephanie Rodriguez (16.5), Krista Belick (17.6), Danielle Hudak (16.8), and Falen Watson (17.2) also set a season best with their time of 68.33.

5/18/2006 South Brunswick 87 Piscataway 42 Vikings Defeat Piscataway!

The Vikings finished their dual meet season 6-1 by defeating Piscataway, 87.5-42.5. There were many outstanding performances for South Brunswick, despite the windy and sometimes rainy conditions.

The Vikings were sparked by three event winner Indira Morton. Morton won the long jump with a PR 17-5.5, the shot put with a PR of 35-5.5, and the javelin with a toss of 117-6.

Rebecca Russo won two events, tying for first in the rain-shortened high jump at 4-6, and the 800 with a time of 2:33.9 in her first time running the event. Also winning two events was Megan Behrend, who took the 1600 (5:49), and the 3200 (13:49).

Other athletes winning events were Jessie Boynton in the 200 (25.2 PR), Maria Biondo in the pole vault (6-0), Krista Belick in a tie for first in the high jump (4-6) and the 4X400 team of Eve Mizerak (62.5), Simone Hill (64.3), Stephanie Rodriguez (64.9), and Boynton (58.0) that ran 4:09.7.

The Vikings took on JP Stevens Tuesday, and ended up with another impressive victory by a score of 98-42. The win improves the team's dual meet record to 5-1.

Thirteen different athletes took part in winning an event for the Vikings. Stephanie McIntyre was a double winner, taking the Long Jump (16-1.75), and the Triple Jump (37-9). Stephanie Rodriguez won the 400 Hurdles (69.2), Jessie Boynton won a close 100 (12.6 =PR), Megan Behrend took the 1600 (5:40), Eve Mizerak captured the 400 (61.1), Rebecca Russo won the 200 (27.1), Krista Belick went 8-0 to take the Pole Vault, Gi'Ana Walker won the Shot Put (31-6.5), Jazmen Burnett won the Discus (92-11), and Indira Morton won the Javelin (105-7). Also winning in a close battle against their own teammates was the 4X400 team of Jasleen Singh (70.3 PR), Ada Persaud (67.1 PR), Stephanie Rodriguez (62.9), and Sara MacMurray (68.9) that ran 4:29.2.

Notable personal bests were turned in by Sara MacMurray in the 1600 (5:45) and Simone Hill in the 400 (63.8).

5/13/2006 South Brunswick 74 GMC Championships 69 Vikings Win GMCs!!!

Vikings win the GMC Championship, scoring 74 points to Old Bridge's 69! There were many incredible performances that helped put the Vikings over the top.

In the Triple Jump, Stephanie McIntyre jumped a school record, meet record, county record, and national qualifying distance of 39-7 to take the victory. Her distance is also the 4th best in state history. In the 400, Jessie Boynton won a thrilling race with a school record and national qualifying time of 55.94. She is now the second fastest performer in county history. Indira Morton won the javelin with a personal best and national qualifying distance of 130-2.

In the long jump, McIntyre finished second at 17-3.25, and Morton was 3rd with a 17-2.5. In the 800, Boynton ran the second fastest time in school history with her second-place finish of 2:23.83.

In the 200, Eve Mizerak ran a strong race to finish 4th with a 26.39, and Simone Hill set a personal best to finish 6th in 26.62. In the 400 Hurdles, Stephanie Rodriguez set a new personal best of 67.96, which also improves her sophomore class record. Also finishing fourth with a throw of 35-2.5 was Morton in the shot put with a personal best of nearly 2 feet.

Megan Behrend finished 5th in the 3200 with a time of 12:14. Rounding out the scoring for the Vikings was the 4X400 team of McIntyre (59.4), Mizerak (60.8), Rebecca Russo (61.2), and Boynton (58.1) that finished 3rd in 3:59.73.

5/9/2006 South Brunswick 85 East Brunswick 50 Vikings Beat EB!

The Vikings knocked off East Brunswick on Tuesday by a score of 85-50, to improve to 4-1 in dual meets.

Leading the charge was Stephanie McIntyre, who won four events - the 100 (12.9), the 800 (2:29), the Triple Jump (37-0.5 =PR), and the Long Jump (17-6.5 PR).

Indira Morton won two events with big PRs, the Javelin (126-8), and the Shot Put (33-4), while placing third in the Long Jump (16-9.5) with a season best.

Other athletes winning events were Falen Watson in the 400 Hurdles (73.2), Megan Behrend with a nice PR in the 1600 (5:32.2), Jessie Boynton in the 400 (57.9), Eve Mizerak in the 200 (26.4), and Krista Belick in the Pole Vault (7-6).

5/6/2006 Rowan University Girls Open 0 South Brunswick 0 Vikings Perform Well at Rowan!

A handful of Vikings traveled south to Rowan University Saturday night and came away with some outstanding performances.

On the track, the 4X100 team of Stephanie McIntyre, Simone Hill, Jessie Boynton, and Eve Mizerak ran a time of 48.8 in the prelims and ended up finishing 2nd in the finals. This time breaks the school record set last week and qualifies for nationals. The same four also ran the 800 meter Sprint Medley, running a time of 1:47.8 to finish 3rd and break yet another school record while qualifying for nationals in the process. McIntyre and Hill handled the 100 legs, Mizerak the 200 (25.8), and Boynton ran the 400 (56.9 =PR).

In the field, McIntyre took one jump in the triple jump and finished second with a 35-1.5, and Morton jumped 16-6.25 in the long jump to take 4th. Falen Watson also set a PR in the long jump at 14-7.5, and Krista Belick tied a PR in the high jump at 4-10.

In addition, the 4X200 team of Belick (28.9), Zaniah Maynor (28.3), Watson (29.3), and McIntyre (25.9) ran a strong time of 1:52.5.

5/3/2006 South Brunswick 98 GMC Relays 98 Vikings Tie for First at GMC Relays!

The South Brunswick Track & Field team won a share of the GMC Relay Championship on Wednesday night, ending up with 98 points, the same as Old Bridge. The Vikings were down 12 points after the first day of competition, but mounted a strong comeback on the second and final day of the meet to capture the crown. There were many outstanding efforts on the track and in the field, and it took a total team effort to earn the victory.

4/27/2006 Penn Relays 0 South Brunswick 0 Two School Records at Franklin Field!

The Vikings had an unbelievable day at the Penn Relays on Thursday, setting 2 school records in the 2 races they ran.

In the 4X100, the quartet of Stephanie McIntyre, Indira Morton, Jessie Boynton, and Eve Mizerak ran 49.36 to beat the old record by nearly .3 seconds. The time was the 9th fastest by New Jersey schools on the day, and 25th out of well over 200 schools that competed.

In the 4X400, the team of McIntyre (59.5), Mizerak (59.7), Rebecca Russo (60.1 PR by 2 seconds), and Boynton (56.9 PR) ran 3:56.42 to shatter the school record set last year by close to 2 seconds. The time was the 7th fastest by New Jersey schools, and only the 3rd time a South Brunswick team has gone under the 4:00 barrier.

4/25/2006 South Brunswick 85 Sayreville 55 Vikings Knock Off Sayreville!

South Brunswick improved to 3-1 with an 85-55 defeat of Sayreville on Tuesday. There were many solid performances and PRs on both the track and the field.

Leading the way for the Vikings was 3 event winner Stephanie McIntyre, who won the Long Jump (16-9.75), the 400 (59.3 PR), and the Triple Jump (37-0.5 ties her own School Record). Also winning 3 events was Jessie Boynton, who captured the 100 (12.6 PR) and the 200 (26.1 PR), and ran anchor on the winning 4X400 team.

Winning two events was Jazmen Burnett who took the Shot Put (31-7), and the Discus (96-2 PR).

Other event winners for the Vikings were Stephanie Rodriguez in the 800 (2:34.5), Krista Belick in the Pole Vault (8-0), Indira Morton in the Javelin (111-10), and the 4X400 team of Rebecca Russo (62.3), Falen Watson (65.0 PR), Danielle Hudak (70.0), and Boynton (59.4) that combined to run 4:16.7.

4/15/2006 Colts Neck Relays 0 South Brunswick 0 Strong Performances at Colts Neck Relays!

South Brunswick ran at the first annual Colts Neck Relays on Saturday, and came home with 4 sets of medals.

Leading the way was the 1st place 4X400 team of Rebecca Russo (62.3), Indira Morton (64.0), Stephanie Rodriguez (61.9), and Jessie Boynton (58.9) that finished in a time of 4:07.1, 10 seconds ahead of the 2nd place team.

Finishing in 2nd place was the 4X200 team of Morton (27.2), Russo (27.2), Danielle Hudak (29.3), and Boynton (25.9), which ran a time of 1:49.6.

In 5th place was the 3X400 Hurdles team of Krista Belick (71.5), Sharon Liu (74.4), and Rodriguez (74.5) that combined for a time of 3:40.4. Also in 5th was the Pole Vault team of Krista Belick (7-6) and Jess Bellizio.

4/11/2006 South Brunswick 117 Perth Amboy 23 Vikings Beat Perth Amboy to improve to 2-0!

The Vikings had a great meet Tuesday under sunny skies, defeating Perth Amboy 117-23. The Vikings won 14 of the 16 events, and swept the first 3 places in 6 events (100 Hurdles, Pole Vault, High Jump, Shot Put, Discus, and Javelin). Leading the way was four event winner Krista Belick, who took the Pole Vault (8-0), the High Jump (4-10), the 100 Hurdles (17.2), plus the 4X400 as the anchor with a PR split of 63.9. Winning two events were Jessie Boynton in the 100 (13.1) and 200 (26.5), Indira Morton in the Long Jump (16-5.5) and Javelin (105-9), and Jazmen Burnett in the Shot Put (32-5.25) and Discus (92-2). Also winning events were Megan Behrend in the 1600 (5:46), Rebecca Russo in the 400 (62.1), Jess Engel in the 800 (2:30.5), the 4X400 team of Sara MacMurray (67.2), Zaniah Maynor (70.7), Ashleigh Morris (77.6), and Belick (63.9) which ran 4:39.3, and Stephanie McIntyre in the Triple Jump. Her leap of 37-0.5 crushed her own school record set last year by nearly 10 inches, and is one of the best marks in the state so far this year.

4/8/2006 Kings Relays 0 South Brunswick 0 Vikings Survive Cold & Rain at Kings Relays

Under miserable conditions, the Vikings made the best of their day at the world-class facility at Icahn Stadium in New York. Constant rain and temperatures hovering around 40 prevented the majority of field events from taking place, and some running relays were scratched. However, the conditions did not stop two teams from coming home with hardware.

The 4X1600 team of Sara MacMurray (6:17), Jess Bellizio (6:15), Ashley Edwards (6:30), and Tanya Gidej (6:16) earned trophies with their 1st place finish in a time of 25:20. Finishing in 4th place with a time of 4:43.88 was the Sprint Medley team of Simone Hill (27.2), Krista Belick (28.5), Rebecca Russo (63.9), and Jess Engel (2:44).

4/4/2006 South Brunswick 113 Edison 26 Vikings Beat Edison in Dual Meet Opener!

The Vikings started off the dual meet season with a bang, defeating Edison by a score of 113.5-26.5. The Vikes won 14 of the 16 events, led by four-event winner Stephanie McIntyre, who took the 100 (12.8), 400 (60.7), Long Jump (16-11.75 PR), and Triple Jump (33-7.5). Krista Belick won three events, taking the Pole Vault (7-6), the High Jump (4-10), and running the 3rd leg on the winning 4X400 team. Winning two events were Indira Morton in the Javelin (112-11.5) and 200 (27.0), and Jazmen Burnett in the Shot Put (31-5) and Discus (89-3). Other event winners were Jessie Boynton in the 800 (2:41), Jess Engel in the 1600 (5:45), Megan Behrend in the 3200 (12:43), and the 4X400 relay team of Simone Hill, Sara MacMurray, Belick, and Rebecca Russo.

4/1/2006 GMC Coaches Relays 0 South Brunswick 0 Strong Season Opener for Vikings!

The Vikings opened their season Saturday at the GMC Coaches Relays, held in South Plainfield. There were many strong performances, highlighted by two medal-winning varsity relays:

  • The sprint medley team of Eve Mizerak (400 leg of 60.2), Simone Hill (200 leg of 27.7), Rebecca Russo (27.8 200 leg), and Stephanie McIntyre (2:29.3 800 anchor leg) ran 4:25.0 to finish 1st. McIntyre came from behind in the final 150 meters to take the victory.

  • The distance medley team of Jess Engel (4:05 1200 leg PR), Rebecca Russo (62.1 400 PR), Sara MacMurray (2:42 800 leg), and Megan Behrend (5:39 1600 PR) ran 13:29 to finish 2nd in that race.

Also earning top-6 finishes in the varsity flight were the following teams:

  • The 4X100 team of McIntyre, Hill, Danielle Hudak, and Mizerak ran a strong early season time of 50.9 to finish 4th.

  • The 4X400 team of Falen Watson, Hudak, Sharon Liu, and MacMurray ran 4:37.9 to finish 6th.

  • The triple jump team of McIntyre and Watson finished 6th with a combined distance of 60-6.25.

  • The shot put team of Jazmen Burnett and Gi'Ana Walker also finished 6th with a combined distance of 60-6.
