Lichtenstein Square

The subject of this piece of art is a lobster net. This piece of art was done with pencil, water color crayons and water. This piece of art was made by being given a piece of paper that had a smaller version of the artwork and were told to make five times bigger.

Techniques used in my art is, balance, smooth texture and contrast. I believe that it is balanced because there is no negative space and the colors compliment each other. Also I attempted smooth texture with the water color. I tried to make the paint brush strokes smooth and soft. There is contrast which I noticed the most when I look at the colors— they don't match and they make each other pop. I changed a couple of things, for example, I had to change the movement of the rope because they were too straight and didn't look like they belonged. I made them more wavy and bendy. Another thing I changed was the large partition of the red because I thought it was too small in the beginning of this project so I made it a little bit bigger and more curved.

This relates to my life because I love the summer and the ocean. If I could revise I would. I made a mistake when it came to the painting part of the artwork— I painted outside the lines a little bit and if I could do it again I would have been more careful.
