Mask

For this project we found a mask on the website and needed to be inspired by it to be able to create your own mask that incorporated some of the same features. I was inspired by this mask because I liked the way it looked: simple and smooth. I made a newspaper ball that was shaped like the face and rolled slabs. The next part of the process was to make the features you wanted on your mask. This required for slipping and scoring the nose and the mouth onto the mask. The mask was removed from the newspaper and was dried so it could be bisque fired. After it was bisque fired, I glazed the mask with blue retile and iron luster. I liked these two colors because I thought they would compliment each other and I was right. I think my finished project was pretty successful, but if I could change one thing it would be the face shape. I honestly don't like how wide the face is; I wish that it was narrower.
