Ceramics 1

1. I am most proud of my multiple pinch pot project. I am proud because of the creativity behind it. I originally wanted to do a snowman, but I realized how simple and easy it is so I decided to go against it. I just started making the spheres and it just came to me that I was going to do a pig. I love how his eyes are crooked and and how dorky he looks. While I was making him I became attached and fell in love as soon as I saw the outcome of the project. I learned how to use clay in different ways. For example in this project it was multiple spheres to make pinch pots and how they form whatever you want it to. I also learned that inspiration strikes whenever. For this project inspiration struck at the last minute and it turned out that I loved this project the most.

2. This class has changed the way I think about ceramics because I used to think that it was only about sculptures and things that you see in museums, but it turns out that clay is used for a lot of things. For example, plates, mugs and everyday items. I also thought that it was all about the potters wheel, but it turns out that you can use clay by molding on the table. It was a cool insight to the world of ceramics. I personally like the different ways you can make things—the techniques that are used. I personally love the slab technique.

3. I personally love the class just the way it was and wouldn't change anything about it because it was fun and I learned a lot while having fun. I liked that Mr. A was always there to help if it was needed and that he did class demonstrations before doing the next project. I liked that it was a laid-back kind of class but we were always aware of the due date and that we had to use the class time to the best of our ability. I liked that we could stay after school to finish our use our study halls if needed.
