In this piece, we went outside and picked up a leaf that we found interesting. I found a leaf that had a range of both yellow and brown with just the slightest bit of green on the stem. To create this I took watercolor paper and outlined where I wanted my stem and stem-branches. Once I had figured that out, I took watercolor in the color of yellow, green and brown and paid attention to where I should put these colors. I tried to use a full range of value and contrast between the yellow and green. The only thing I would change if I could go back is when I was using the watercolor the paper would turn into clumps and it messed with the final product.
