Time Capsules

For this project we were required to draw four prompts. Them being: a cropped self portrait, everyday object you use, a hallway, and your hand in a unique position. I am going to chose to write about my cropped self portrait. I am not particularly proud of this one but I did run into a lot of mistakes and little details that didn't make me happy and still don't. I decided to draw my ear because I thought it would be the most unique and different part of my face to draw. I started with the foreground and drew my ear. It took many dozen tries and retakes. I then added my jaw line and hair. my most favorite part about this work of art would be the hair. I believe it looks pretty realistic to my actual hair and I was very satisfied with the outcome. I went in with some detail and added shading in the ear and freckles. If I could go back and change on thing it would be the shading of the ear. For some reason i don't find it very realistic and true to size with my ear.
