Multiple Pinch Project

The process:

1. You start with two pieces of clay with equal weight.

2. You make them into balls

3. You start to pinch the pots

4. You attach the two pinch pots by a process called scratch, scratch, water, attach

5. You add your own design on top or into the clay for your own creative addition

(I repeated this process 2 times)

My original idea for this project was a snowman, but I thought it wasn't original enough so I decided through trail and error that i wanted to make a pig. For this project I took four pinch pots and scratched them together. I made the neck a little bit thicker because I didn't want the head and body to become detached throughout the process. I made the legs and arms solid because it was easier to attach them. I rolled them out and scored them onto the body of the pig. I added the eyes and nose last. I they were also solid. I scored the eyes onto the head and then poked the holes into them. I scored the nose onto the head and then carved the nostrils out of it. I underglazed it all. I started with a pink for the body then white and black for the eyes and nose. After the bisque fire, I clear glazed the whole pig for the finishing touch. If I could change one thing about my project, it would to make the legs the same length and maybe level out the sculpture.
