Many new teachers are joining our Edgewood Journey High crew this year. One of those new amazing teachers is Miss Baxter. This is everything you need to know about our new choir teacher, Miss Baxter.
This is Miss Baxter’s 3rd year of teaching. Before she became a teacher, she attended college at Ball State University. She taught at Martensville for two years. When she started here, she said she was a little overwhelmed at first. But everyone was so nice and so helpful.
Her favorite part, and why she started teaching choir, is hearing the kids sing. Why she loves singing is because “My family is full of singers. I remember every time we would get in the car, my parents were playing music and singing. One thing she is most excited for this year is the show choirs. That is because “I have never taught a show choir before.” One song she is most excited to do is "Send in the Clowns." because, as she states, “It is such a beautiful emotional song.”

A tip that Miss Baxter would give to someone who wants to be a choir teacher is “Just go for it; never second-guess yourself. You're not going to get every audition; you're not going to get into a group you want; you might not even make it into a school your first try. Just continue, just keep going, and just keep working on being the best you can be. And know that whatever your skill is right now, you can get to where you need to be.” One of her goals this year is to learn more. Because as she states, “A big part of teaching is always being able to grow and learn.”
We are happy to have Miss Baxter as a choir teacher this year. She is an amazing teacher and a great role model. She will teach our choirs and show choirs great things. So let’s welcome Miss Baxter to Edgewood Journey High School.
