Edgewood spirit is in the air, especially after Edgewood held the annual Edgewood Showcase! The Edgewood Showcase occurred on Thursday, September 24th, from 5:00-7:30 pm. The event had lots to do, including sporting events, food, games, and more. The showcase was for all ages and a good opportunity to get to know the schools better.
Parts of all the schools were open to visitors to explore. First off, the preschool and elementary schools were open for tours, along with book read-alongs and makerspace activities. Next, the Jr. High offered food trucks, inflatables, had the design lab and EdgeMedia room open, and some Wellness booths open, with swag items to give away. Last but not least, the high school had lots of activities and things to do, like taste-testing school menu options, fieldhouse activities, the pool was open, performances from the Marching Band, the Cheer Team, and a preview from the theater. Though this was not all, there was lots to choose from. Dr. Sanders, the superintendent at Edgewood, states, "The Edgewood Showcase is one of my favorite events of the year! I love showing off our talented students, outstanding programs, and amazing facilities! Plus, it’s just a fun evening on the Edgewood Campus!”

The showcase featured many musical arts performances. These included the Marching Band, Show Choirs, and Theater performing their previews. The Showcase was a great way to prepare for Competition season for the musical arts teams. Jack Martindale, a marching band member, states, “The Showcase prepared me by showing me what performing for an unfamiliar crowd was like and gave me the confidence.” The Marching Band performed at the Football Field at 7:15 pm. The Show Choirs performed at the High School Auditorium at 6 p.m., and the Theatre performed at 6:45 pm. Mrs. Campbell, the high school choir teacher, directed the high school show choir performances. Mrs. Campbell states, "The show choirs did very well, and it was a good opportunity to show off to the community how hard our students work on the stage.
The showcase had lots to do, featuring plenty of games and activities along with sporting events and performances. The high school volleyball team had a game, along with a boys' soccer game and cheer and band performances. This made for a good show to show off the talent in our sports here at Edgewood! At the Showcase, they had plenty of activities. There were inflatables where you could race with your friends, and the inflatables were even free to go on. The showcase also included Dr. Sanders driving a train you could ride in! There were activities at the High School too, such as going to the pool or doing special activities in the High School Field House. The Showcase certainly had lots of fun activities and things to do!

Whether you had an appetite or not, there were lots of food options to choose from. The high school cafe was giving out free samples of food that are on the school lunch menu, like the homemade pizza served every Monday and Friday. They also served GoldCreek Chicken Tenders, Chicken Patties, and more. Amanda Waits, the Head Chef at Edgewood, states, “The event was a fantastic opportunity to show off the variety of options our nutrition team offers every day.” Moving on, there were some food trucks with food like BBQ and Domino's, and if you picked Domino's as your choice, then you were able to make your own customized pizza. The Coffee Corral was also open for drink orders at the High school. Moving more away from food, the Jr. High gave out some swag items in the multi-purpose room and cafe at the Wellness booths. They gave out things like squishies, stickers, candy, and various gear.
As shared, there was a lot to do at the Showcase, from food to activities, games, and more; there was plenty to experience. The Showcase was a good opportunity to show off the great talent our school district, Edgewood, has.
