Investigate: What patterns can you notice in the weather?

  • Go outside and observe. Talk about:

    • How does the weather today compare to the weather yesterday?

    • What do you think the weather will be like tomorrow?

  • Observe and record the weather over the next five days. Write or draw your observations. Make sure you note sunny, rainy, or windy days.

  • After five days, count up each kind of weather over the past week. Talk about:

    • What patterns do you notice?

    • What do you think the weather will be like next week?

    • What new questions do you have?

Main Activity: Spare Change

Equipment:

  • Laundry basket, box or a bucket to use as your target

  • Ball (sock balls work!) that you can throw into your target

  • Spots or something to mark your spare change with (as you can see in the video, I used my dog's toys as spots!)


Directions: Click the button on the right to do the Spare Change Workout or follow the following directions below.

  • Place your target.

  • Set-up your spots to throw from.

  • Each spot should be further away from the target.


Scoring:

  • You have 1 minute to make as much money as you can.

  • Spot 1=1 cent, Spot 2=5 cents, Spot 3=10 cents


Variations:

  • Competitive: play against someone or Cooperative: add your money together

  • Try to improve your score each round
