PPS Summer Learning Modules Goes Live June 15th!
Watch the Bozeman Science video " Planning and Carrying out Investigations"
Think about a question that you have about something in and around your home.
You could focus on your ideas on weather and how it might affect you and your home.
How could you design an experiment that would answer that question?
Weather reflects short-term conditions of the atmosphere. Weather can change from minute-to-minute, hour-to-hour, day-to-day, and season-to-season. Oregon weather data can be accessed from Weather Underground. Record the average monthly weather data for each month in 2019 for:
average maximum temperature
average average temperature
average minimum temperature
Tips for using Weather Underground
Use the student worksheet to record your data. Graph one of the temperature variables that you recorded data for.
How does your weather variable change its value from month to month? What month is the lowest and what month is the highest? What pattern can you see in the data? Do you think that this pattern will be the same from year to year?
Which type of weather data—daily or monthly—do you think is more useful for describing weather? Explain your reasoning.
