Today you will put your knowledge of immigration to practice. You will be hosting a "Skype" session with a relative from another country. In our case the relative will be another student in class. You will simply pass the iPad back and forth (turning off the camera obviously) to ask and answer questions.
Requirements:
I am looking for you to demonstrate the you understand push/pull factors. As you develop your scripts, keep this in mind as the overall goal.
Time: 1 to 2 minutes in length
Topics: What convinced you to leave your country (push/pull), what you brought with you, what you are doing now, how is it in the new country, etc.
Make it look like a natural conversation...not just an interview. Both can ask questions, both can answer things. Think about what someone might say or ask if they were in that situation.
Here is an example of what it might look like-
Home person: Hey! How are you?
Immigrant: Pretty good! How are things back home?
Home person: Oh, you know. About the same. Still not enough food/money/space/etc
Immigrant: That's no good. That was one of the biggest reasons I left. I heard that in my new country there is all kinds of that stuff.
