Below, you will find a PDF of a map that you can open in Noteability. You may skip MOST of step one. It says to label all of the colonies. In our case I would just like you to label Massachusetts, Virginia, and Georgia. I want you to do this to give you a little context to where things are. Bonus point to anyone that can mark (approximately) where New Hampton is as well.
Next, choose a symbol that represents a win for the Colonists and a different symbol the represents a win for the British.
After that, I would like you to label the following places on the map. You will need to do just a little research on these to find out who won. If you google any of these a "The Battle of..." and include the name, you will likely get the info you need.
Cowpens (this is an addition)
Yorkton
Valley Forge-Not a battle. Mark it as a Colonist win though. We will discuss Valley Forge tomorrow.
Saratoga
Bunker (Breeds) Hill
Lexington and Concord
Ft. Ticondaroga
Trenton
When you finish: Take a screen shot of the map and email that screenshot to me.
You will likely not finish today as we also have to go over battle tactics today, but we will have some work time for this tomorrow as well to start class.
We are going to examine the tactics and styles of fighting used in the Revolutionary War.
In a notebook or somewhere on your iPad please write down the following words and definitions.
Frontal assault- war tactic where two fighting forces line up in lone battle lines and attack each other head on.
Fabian Tactics- "fight and hide" war tactics where one fighting force hides, then attacks their enemy, then hides in a new location.
Blockade- Naval tactic where one navy blocks the harbor from use
