The Columbian Exchange and the triangle trade are very similar to each other. In some ways it the same thing with different names. However, today we focus on the triangle trade.

One can't really understand what the triangle trade was until they realize two things. One, slavery exists. Two, slavery is about money. Columbus took slaves with him from Hispanola, which set into motion 350 years of slavery in the New World.  As a result, an entire race of people are going to be taken into slavery, and it will eventually create problems big enough to nearly tear the newly formed United States apart.

The first person enslaved in North America was named John Punch, and this occurs in 1619.  This video explains what happened to him.

Below are two pictures that should help to explain the triangle trade. The top one is a simple, one direction explanation.  This is what you will need to be able to show for the test.
