Today we will take a look at immigrating to the United States from the view of those that were immigrating. In the links at the bottom of the page, above the PDF, you will look at two first hand accounts of immigration, a secondary source, a song, and a political cartoon. Open the PDF linked at the bottom the of page and complete the activity. You will need to read Joseph Pikering, Edward Bok, and then you may chose your last one, for a total of three.
After you have read through the stories of immigrants from the 1800's, please open this link and read pages 3 & 4 from this first hand account of immigrating in the 1990's. See if you can find the similarities to the stories you've just read.
Open the PDF in Noteabilty. You'll use this as your worksheet to answer questions regarding the first hand accounts you're going to read.
Be ready to discuss the questions as a class. (No discussion if in virtual setting)
If you finish early you may take a 3 minute break and then you should watch CNN student news.
Fill out the pdf below. You can either do it in Noteability or print it off and do it on paper and then take a picture. You will need to email the finished product.
