As the colonies formed they each had a very distinctive reason, purpose, and personality. We'll discuss more about the social and ideological differences later, but I want to consider the physical differences between the colonies now. Look at the four following pictures. You do not have to turn them in.
What do you notice about the shapes of the colonies?
What seems to be used (in most cases) to determine the borders of the colonies?
What might you notice about the size of the colonies the farther south they go (consider the last picture)?
What are the names of all of the colonies?
