Procedure
1. You and your partner just got your Amendment number. This is the Amendment they will work on.
2. Your first step is to learn EXACTLY what protections your Amendment provides to Americans. In some cases protection is just one thing. In other cases there are 2, 3 or even up to 6 things that are protected. I HIGHLY recommend that you first use Google and search for "(Your Amendment Explained). For example, if you have the Third Amendment, type in Third Amendment Explained. This will give you not only the language that is in the Constitution, but also help for that you understand exactly what that wording means. If you're still having difficulty, try the same thing with YouTube. This process should take at least 30 minutes. Don't rush, or you won't really understand what you have to explain. to your classmates.
3. You and your partner will need to complete the storyboard PDF below. This storyboard includes a section where you determine what's in your Amendments and then figure out how to show it on camera in an iMovie (NO TRAILERS). You should be almost at the end of class on day 1 when you finish this process. You will not proceed to filming without showing the teacher what you have on the StoryBoard pdf.
3. Decide on a plan for your commercial. Write out a list of scenes you will need to film, and what you're going to say (this is called a script). Finish WRITING before you film anything.
4. You and your partner will be making a video that explains, in an entertaining way, what the assigned amendment is about. This includes information about what rights you give us, an example of how it applies and any other explanations that need to be made. Your goal is for all your classmates to know your Amendment well enough to be able to apply it in a given situation. Some of its Amendments have more than one "clause," meaning they grant more than one right. You must cover them all.
(For example, the Sixth Amendment states that you have the right to have your trial conducted in a timely manner and that you have the right to a jury.)
5. Both members of the group must appear on camera. Both must talk at some point in the video. You can use the lapel microphones I have as long as they are treated with care and respect.
You can use the lapel microphones if I'm around. Submarines are not aware of where they are or what they are for.
6. Props are acceptable, but only if they ENHANCE the video. THERE ARE NO ACCESSORIES FOR THE JUST OF HAVING AN ACCESSORY.
7. At the beginning of each video you should have a screen that lists what amendment number you are making and what rights the amendment guarantees.
8. All commercials will be under the premise "Need an amendment? The Bill of Rights has you covered." Every video must include that line.
