Today you will begin making a poster and a rap about one of the many actions that England took against the Colonists.
You are taking on the role of a 1760'-1770's colonist that is fed up with England and what they are doing to you. Instead of raising a fist against them, you feel it is better to protest against them. To do that, you have decided that you need a poster and music to really get King George III to listen to you. Here are the following directions and criteria that you must meet as you create your poster and rap.
Most of the acts and actions are things that we haven't covered in class yet. That's okay. I will provide limited information and you may do whatever research you feel is helpful. Remember, your book will have some information as well.
The following acts are available and will be chosen by the group:
-Proclamation of 1763
-Sugar Act
-Quartering Act
-Stamp Act
-Declaratory Act
-Boston Massacre
-Tea Act
-Intolerable Acts
See the document attached below that has the groups and Act assignments.

1. Posters may be any size, but Mr. Rude will only supply you with up to two (2) sheets of standard sized paper. If you wish to use larger paper or poster board, you must supply that. Any paper that you are going to get outside of Mr. Rude's supplied must come from somewhere outside of school (i.e. No going to the office to ask for poster board).
2. Posters must include, at least, the following information: the name of your act/action/event, the year it happened, and how you feel about it. This can be expressed through words or pictures.
3. On your posters, you may use NO MORE THAN 35 words. You may draw pictures, or use existing pictures and glue them on, but words in those pictures will be counted towards your 35 word limit. Numbers will be included as words.
4. You may attach your posters to a stick, but may not use one of Mr. Rude's rulers or meter sticks to do so. You must provide your own stick.
5. You may use any colors, colored pencils, markers, glue, rubber cement, staples, scissors, or other necessary supplies in Mr. Rude's room, so long as it is on the back shelf. If it is on Mr. Rude's desk please ask before taking it.
6. Raps must be long enough to tell the story, or main information about your act/action/event.
7. They must rhyme and have rhythm.
8. No swearing or any offensive (or nearly offensive) language may be used.
9. You may use an existing tune or melody to help you create your rap/song, but you may not take an existing song and change the words slightly. The words must be completely original.
10. Between the rap and the song, you must explain the class what it is that that your act/action/event was and why you do not like it.
11. Please do the raps and posters in the present tense. You are pretending you are in 1770 and protesting to the King in real life.
