Drawbots

Rachelle Doorley describes a simple marriage of art and technology with this simple drawbot - a project designed for very young makers.

For this project, you will make a Drawbot (three crayola pens, one 9V battery, one toy motor, an on-off switch) following the step-by-step instructions in Tinkerlab, Rachelle Doorley, Roost Books, 2014, pp 127-129. Then, make your best impression of a Jackson Pollack modern art painting with your Drawbot.

Consider one of the additional options:

• Build a corral to keep your Drawbot on the art board
• Design your own DIY on/off switch
• Design an wire extension to your on-off switch so that you can turn your Drawbot On and Off without disturbing, grabbing, or knocking over the Drawbot to stop it
