After you finish The Box....some Design-Thinking I students may want to go farther with first project.
This is an example of a Design Thinking II project. It was inspired by a Tweet from a Fab Lab Educator that was forwarded to me by a former Technology Administrator...and of course I can no longer locate it. The idea - make a press fit box (1 liter or smaller), stencil / cut out lettering on the side, and light the inside with an LED and a small battery pack - either a coin cell battery and holder, or two AA batteries.
As it turns out, many artisans and craftspersons have made interesting laser cut box designs as lamps or lampshades. Here is a gallery of examples.

Why do an extra project? Because you may want to upgrade to Design Thinking II (Honors) next trimester. I will want to see evidence of self-management (do all of the "optional" projects) and a flair for creative design. If you enjoyed the first couple of weeks of Design Thinking I and you are slightly ahead, take on this Design Challenge.
