In groups of 2-3 walk around the school and identify a number of designed products or objects to help you carry out the following tasks. Wander around looking for interesting examples but stay within the school grounds. Take a camera, cell phone or iPad to photograph these items and address the questions relating to each task. Identify a different product for each task, photograph the product/object and answer the questions. And be sure to carry a copy of your OFFICIAL WANDER AROUND PASS.

Task 1
Find a product/object made using two different materials (composite). Show and explain the bonding technique used and state whether it is a permanent or temporary joining method.
Task 2
Find a product/object that has been manufactured from ceramic materials and describe its properties and characteristics in context of its function.
Task 3
Identify/compare three products – one made from ferrous, one from non-ferrous metals and an alloy
Task 4
Identify/compare two products – one made from softwood and one from hard wood.
Task 5
Identify a product made from soda glass, borosilicate (pyrex), laminated, and toughened glass. How can you tell?
