If you use tape, it must be perfect
Diego shows off "press fit" (no glue)
Moment of truth - is it exactly 1 liter?
Design and fabricate a 1-liter box with your name and image engraved on one of the (outside) sides
This is project designed to introduce laser cutting and engraving. Students could assemble their box with tape, glue, or press-fit construction (no tape or glue).
The drama comes at the end - the box has to be at least 1,000 ml (inside dimensions of a cube 10 cm x 10 cm x 10 cm), and no more than 1,050 ml. Students usually miss on their first attempt because they forget to factor in the thickness of the cardboard.
Students are graded on workmanship - no gaps, crooked tape seams, or glue oozing out of the seams. Nothing beats the smile of a student who beams......I made this!
Summative Assessment: Demo and Test (30 points); No Web Post Required
In addition, you should update your Web Post - Simple Squares - to document and reflect on your total experience with your first laser cutter project.
