Skills Development Scotland (SDS) is Scotland’s career service, and they have careers advisers in every state secondary school in Scotland.
SDS school careers advisers work in the school just like regular members of the teaching staff, and deliver career information, advice and guidance.
This support is available to all young people in Scotland, with more intensive support offered to young people with additional support or learning needs, military children, and those who are care experienced.
SDS school careers advisers will never tell pupils what to do but will work with them to discover what they like, what they’re good at, and what’s out there for them - and everything that is required to help them achieve their potential.
Starting at P7/S1 transition time, pupils will meet their SDS school careers adviser in a class session to hear about the kind of support they will receive. That support will continue as they progress through school with class sessions, one-to-one appointments, and drop-ins at key times such as preparation for option choices.
If pupils would like to make an appointment with the SDS school careers adviser, you can contact them on the details below. Parents and carers are welcome to get in touch too.
