S1 ICT

In S1 they come to the department for one period per week.  The course comprises both  Digital Literacy and Computing Science.  It allows the learners to develop and consolidate their general ICT skills to enable them to make full use of the school's ICT provision across the wider curriculum.  It also introduces them to programming and web design.

Units covered:

• Introduction to Forres Academy's network

• File management

• Using the internet to research and present information

• Image editing and manipulation

• Programming with Scratch

• Basic web page creation with HTML

Scratch - We currently use an older installed version but there is an online version here  https://scratch.mit.edu/search/projects?q=games

Web Design  - We use a text editor to create code and a web browser to view results.  A good free text editor is Notepad++  https://notepad-plus-plus.org/
