S3 - National 4 Pathway
Course Outline
For students on our National 4 pathway the initial focus is achieving National 3 Mathematics certification which will build up a strong foundation for progression into National 4 and National 4 Applications coursework as a lot of the topics carry forward and are expanded on at this level.
Once National 3 has been achieved focus is shifted onto preparation to capture National 4, starting with National 4 Numeracy which covers general National 4 skills and is one of the core units to achieving National 4.
This is followed by preparation for the National 4 Applications Data Handling unit, which covers statistics based topics such as graph interpretation and creation, which will feature again the following year in the National 4 Statistics unit.
This approach to National 4 provides more time to ensure a solid understanding of the mathematics delivered in National 4 to set students up for National 5 progression in senior phase should they so choose.
