PRACTICAL DESIGN PORTFOLIO 100 marks
WRITTEN EXAM 60 marks
Expectations
Students should come to all classes with all the equipment required to make progress in the subject. These items have been provided to pupils & include:
Sketchbook for practical work
Stretched boards
Plastic A2 carry folder
Art & Design Study Booklets
USB
There are a number of on-going deadlines which are set to support completion of course work & it is important that all pupils do their best to keep up with the work & deadlines set. The course progresses at a fast pace so forward planning is key – department staff are happy & willing to support with this.
If a student does not understand what is being asked of them or is having difficulties with any part of the course, the department has an open door policy at lunchtimes. Any problems should be discussed with teacher as soon as they arise to avoid students getting behind.
Homework is regularly set to support with meeting deadlines and completing coursework. On average, we would recommend around 2-3 hours per week out with class time should be invested across the 3 components. Students are welcome to borrow materials from school to progress work at home or use the art rooms at lunchtimes & have a working lunch.
If a student is absent, schedules of work/work covered in any one week is posted on Teams. This is to support all learners as it reminds & clarifies instructions. Therefore it is important that the class Team is accessed regularly. Students are expected to catch up on work missed due to absence. Again, teaching staff are here to help and can be contacted in person, on Teams or via Glow e-mail.
