Advanced Higher Mathematics
Course Overview
The Senior Phase Advanced Higher Mathematics course takes a single year approach to achieving a 7th level (Advanced Higher) certificate.
The course begins with an extension on the algebraic and calculus knowledge from higher level with the differentiation of partial fractions, alongside further integration, and equations. Matrices and Systems are introduced for the first time to students in this unit as well.
The 2nd unit returns to furthering knowledge of calculus with more integration and differentiation, as well as expanding on the knowledge of sequences. At this point binomial theorem and complex numbers are introduced.
The final unit of the course focuses primarily on proofs and systems of equations, with proofs and number theory being introduced to the students at this stage.
The course is advanced h with an exam consisting of two papers. Paper 1 is a non-calculator exam, and Paper 2 is a calculator permitted exam.
The Higher Mathematics units are:
Algebra and Calculus Methods
Algebra and Calculus Applications
Geometry, Proofs and Systems of Equations
