Curriculum
Course Information
The course is practical and experiential. Students will require to plan, make and evaluate more complex fashion/textile items to given briefs demonstrating more complex skills and techniques with accuracy to achieve a high standard of finish. When responding to briefs and fulfilling Course criteria students will need ot complete Consumer Studies, analyse and evaluate their work accounting for factors that affect fashion and textile choices, fashion trends and influences.
Entry Requirements
Appropriate S3 course or Course Award at Nat 4.
Course Assessment
3 Mandatory Units completed using a combined approach encompassing Textile Technologies, Fashion and Textile Development, Fashion and Textile Choices.
Progression Routes
Nat 5 Nat 6 (Higher)
Other SQA qualifications in fashion and textile technology or related areas, e.g. health and wellbeing, creative arts or technologies.
Further education and employment or training.
The National Progression Award (NPA) in Bakery at SCQF level 4 develops practical bakery skills in craft baking, bread making, cake decoration and pastry making. This award is aimed at candidates who are interested in pursuing a career in the bakery or catering industries, but do not necessarily have any prior experience.
Course Information
This course enables candidates to develop knowledge of child development, health & wellbeing, Children’s Rights, and the role of Play, through supporting children and young people in a play setting in and out of school and an early learning nursery and/or childcare setting. Placements and practical processes are key to the course, alongside a written portfolio of evidenced knowledge and understanding.

Entered at N4/5 English
Ability to listen, communicate and actively participate in group activities and discussions.
Course Assessment
Successful Course Award is achieved through continuous monitoring of practical and knowledge assessments under open & closed book conditions.

Course Information
This course has a focus on the further development of practical skills and techniques, organisation and time management required for the catering industry and ability to create time plans and complete costings. Students will be required to have greater breadth and depth of knowledge and understanding of cookery processes, properties of ingredients, sustainability, nutrition and dietary requirements.

Pass at N4 Practical Cookery
Course Assessment
3 Mandatory Units of Work completed using a combined approach.
Practical Assessment and Written Exam paper
